Exchange Migration 2010 to Exchange 2013-Part 2: Active Directory

In this multi part article, We are going to cover AD Installation.

Please click Add Roles on server manager

In Add roles wizard before begin confirm the Administrative, Password and Network Settings and click Next

Then, Need to configure the Active Directory Domain Services and click Add Required Features

Select the Server Roles of Active Directory Domain Service check box and click Next.

Click Next from Active Directory Domain Services wizard

Confirm Installation Selections of ADDS roles and .Net Framework 3.5.1 Features and click Next

Now, You can see the installation progress in below image

After Installation completed. Close the wizard and launch the ADDS wizard (dcpromo.exe)

Click start -> Run -> Type dcpromo.exe

You will get the welcome screen of ADDS installation wizard click Next

Click Next from Operating System Compatibility Dialogue box

Select to create the new forest and click Next

Enter the FQDN of the Forest root domain eg: WINDOWSTECHPRO.COM

You can the process of checking whether the new forest is already in use

Select the Forest function level Minimum should be the Windows server 2003 or greater

Additional domain controller DNS server check box should selected and click Yes

Click Next

find out the location for Database, Log Files and SYSVOL then click Next

Give the strong password for Directory services Restore Mode Administrative Password

Review your selections once and if you want to make any change get back to change as you need. If it is ok click Next.

Now, you will get the process of installation to complete and Reboot

After Reboot the server just login with Administrator User name and Password

Now can see the AD has installed in the server manager
